Nexen tires review for 2024: Are nexen tires good?

The Nexen brand has a come a long way since being named as the first Korean tire maker back in 1956. It was initially launched in 1942 as the Heung-A Tire Company and was formally recognized as the Nexen Tire Corporation in 2000.

Nexen Tire America was established in 2005 with the commitment of providing top quality products with unparalleled value and excellent customer support. If you are looking for a more affordable alternative to other popular tire brands, then you should look into a Nexen tire for your sedan, high-performance car, truck, or SUV.

With tire sales reaching over $2 billion annually, it is hard not to look into Nexen’s lineup of technologically-advanced tires. In this 2017 Nexen tires review, we will discuss the various merits and demerits of Nexen tires and why this might be the right choice for your car, truck, or SUV.

Why Choose Nexen Tires?

There are many reasons why you should choose Nexen tires. Besides the obvious fact that Nexen tires are reasonably priced compared to other brands, the company is trusted by famous automakers such as Hyundai, Kia, Chrysler, and Ram as the OEM tire supplier for the newest sedans, high-performance cars, trucks, and sport-utility vehicles.

Great Warranty

Every Nexen tire is covered by the industry’s best warranty. This is the primary reason why I bought a set of Nexen tires for my 2005 Honda Accord. The Total Coverage Warranty will safeguard you and your family from worries so you can enjoy a safer and more comfortable drive in any type of road and weather.

I never needed to claim a warranty after installing a set of Nexen all-season tires in my Accord (since I sold that car after 7 months of changing the tires), but it’s good to know that you’re covered against tire defects due to shoddy build quality.

Next-Generation Technology

Nexen tires are known for their innovative technology. Nexen was the first to develop the first V-shaped directional tire in Korea and is behind the award-winning and unique Green Hive concept tire with replaceable tire blocks. Nexen tires are also known for their environmentally safe approach to tire manufacturing.

Prize-Winning Design

It’s not enough that your tires perform well. They also have to look good in order to emphasize the overall theme of your ride. Nexen is renowned as the first tire company to sweep four of the top design awards in the world namely Dot Design in 2012, IF Design in 2011, G-Mark in 2013, and IDEA in 2014.

The Nexen N’Priz AH8 also features lattice lateral grooves to improve contact stability and prevent accelerated wear. The wave sipes on the tread are designed for enhanced traction in the snow while still offering brilliant all-season driving performance.

I like the fact that the N’Priz AH8 was able to perform quite well in slippery and snowy roads, and I also like the ride quality despite the entry-level price tag.

If you want a standard touring tire that is good for all types of weather then look no further than the Nexen N’Priz AH5. This budget-priced tire caught my eye since the price is good compared to the OEM tires of my old Accord.

Featuring four wide longitudinal grooves to quickly dissipate water for improved grip in wet weather driving, it also features a rigid shoulder block design for better cornering, improved steering response, and a silent ride.

The Nexen N’Priz AH5 also features a dual kerf design to significantly enhance block stiffness so you will get better mileage in each tire.

The N’Priz AH5 provided good traction on both dry and wet roads, but it felt lost when driven on icy roads.

It also gave a silent ride on well-paved roads, but it thumps quite a bit on bumpy stretches of tarmac.

This tire has a Uniform Tire Quality Grade or UTQG rating of 460 AA. This basically means that the Nexen N’Priz AH5 will give you more miles of quiet and enjoyable driving.

This tire has a speed rating of S, T, H, and V and is covered by a 50,000-mile warranty.

Nexen CP661 Summer Radial All Season Review

  • Dry 80% 80%
  • Wet 70% 70%
  • Snow 60% 60%
  • Comfort 80% 80%
  • Noise 80% 80%
  • Treadwear 80% 80%
  • Overall 76% 76%

When the heat is on, you need the Nexen CP661 Summer Radial tire. This particular tire is engineered with a wide center block and straight center rib to deliver stable handling even during the hottest days of the season.

Wet weather traction is also enhanced via the four straight wide grooves and organic-style lateral grooves that enable the tire to swiftly dissipate water to avoid hydroplaning.

This tire is one of the most affordable choices for average all-season driving.

I did find these tires to be a bit noisy on poorly paved surfaces and they hum quite a bit on the highway, but nothing too intrusive that will entirely upset the NVH of your ride.

The tread wear was also on the average side since other brands might give you better overall mileage.

The Nexen CP661 has a T speed rating and a UTQG rating of 400 A B. It also comes with 36 months of free towing and tire change under the Total Coverage Warranty.

The great thing about the N’Fera SU1 is the ride comfort. It also rode silently even during high-speed runs.

Even though Nexen claims that this tire has excellent handling and tread wear characteristics, I find the tread life and the handling to be on the average side compared to other high-performance tires.

I find the N’Fera RU5 a solid and affordable choice since it did perform flawlessly on both wet and dry roads. It was able to handle a bit of snow without sacrificing comfort and road noise.
