I agree! But does that higher price justify its performance? Is it noticeably better than the 777?
I think the 777 is more cost-effective if you’re just commuting. The 999 might shine on performance bikes, but for my cruiser, 777 is perfect.
That’s a tough one! It seems subjective based on ride style. Anyone have thoughts?
I feel the 999 is only worth it if you’re an aggressive rider. I found great deals at local shops too–always helps to ask around.
I’ve seen the 777 discounted online at major retailers. Definitely worth considering if you’re watching your budget.
When I considered both, I found the 999 priced about $30 more for a set. If it lasts longer, that might offset the initial cost.
Very true! Has anyone actually tracked the mileage they get from each model?
I got 6,000 miles on my 999 before needing a change, but I know others who have pushed the 777 beyond 5,000. The mileage really does depend on riding habits.
That’s impressive! So, it seems if you’re careful, the 777 holds up decently too.
Ultimately, it comes down to what you’re using your bike for. The 777 might be best for casual riders while the 999 suits sport or adventure bikes. What’s your focus?
I’ve been torn between both! Maybe I should just flip a coin or perhaps go for a combo? Does anyone do that?
I’ve been using the Shinko 777 for about a year now for my daily commute. They offer great grip and handle well in the rain. Highly recommend them!
That’s awesome! I’m considering the 999s for a sportier ride. Anyone switched from 777 to 999?
I switched from the 777 to the 999 last summer. The 999s are definitely sportier but they wear out faster. Good for occasional weekend rides, though!
That’s interesting. Does the 999 offer better cornering for twisties?
Yes! The 999s have much better cornering stability, especially at high speeds. I’ve used them for touring and found them quite reliable.
For touring, I stick with the 777s. They’ve got great longevity for long rides. But if you want that sport feel, the 999s can’t be beaten.
I’ve seen people debating these tires everywhere! Anyone found a deal that makes either more appealing than the other?
I usually get the 777s on sale and they last me well over 10k miles. If you’re tight on budget, they are a solid choice.
Good point! Does anyone feel like the extra cost of the 999s is worth it?
