When troubleshooting, always start from the simplest solutions. Check your fuses and relays before diving deeper. It could save you a lot of work.
If you’re considering a full disassembly, take pictures at each step. It really helps when you’re reassembling everything later!
That’s a solid idea, @christie51. I learned that the hard way when I couldn’t remember the order of parts after a teardown. 
I’ve noticed that the plastic parts in these columns can be pretty brittle. If you’re replacing any, be cautious about the material you choose. Any recommendations?
Look for OEM parts if you can. They tend to hold up much better than aftermarket options!
