I’ve been experiencing some strange fuel economy issues with my Colorado diesel. I’m getting around 18 MPG instead of the promised 24. Anyone else seeing this?

I hear you, dana24! My truck also shows major discrepancies, plus I’ve got this persistent emissions warning light that came on out of nowhere.
Same here! My dash lit up with a ‘service emission system’ warning. As for fuel economy, I rarely hit 20 MPG; it’s quite frustrating!
I think there might be a lot of us with the same issue. Can anyone share if they found a solution?
I had an issue with my emissions system too. It ended up being a bad DEF injector. My dealer fixed it under warranty, but it took a few weeks to diagnose.
Thanks for the tip, hnelson! I’m still waiting for my diagnostic report. I was worried it could be a bigger issue. Were there any warning codes that pointed you to the DEF injector?
Honestly, I feel your pain. It’s like owning a ‘money pit’ sometimes with these diesel trucks.

Funny you say that, villalaura! I joke that I could’ve bought a brand new car with all the money I’ve spent fixing my Colorado. However, I do love it when it’s running smoothly!
Anyone else notice how the fuel economy varies with different fuel types? I’ve tried both premium and regular, but the difference is minimal. Still dealing with those nasty emissions lights, though.
