Looking for Tips on E46 M3 Carbon Hoods

That’s something I hadn’t considered! What brands have you guys found best for durability?

I went with an aftermarket brand. It was more affordable and has held up well so far, but I’ve heard great things about OEM options too!

Yeah, OEMs are costly, but the fit and finish might be worth it. Just depends on your budget!

Weight reduction is awesome, but be mindful of the cost versus the benefits! Sometimes, the money could go into other performance mods instead.

True! But for fanatics, a carbon hood is a dream, especially for track use!

If you don’t mind the extra cost, the bragging rights of having a full carbon setup are pretty cool too!

Haha, definitely! There’s just something about it that screams performance.

At the end of the day, it’s all about personal preference. Just make sure to consider how you’ll be using your M3 before upgrading!

I’ve heard great things about Seibon carbon hoods for the E46 M3. They have a solid reputation for quality and fitment! Just make sure to double-check their installation guide.

I second that! Seibon does have a good reputation, but I’ve seen some complaints about customer service. Just be prepared for that.

What about the APR carbon hoods? I’ve heard they are a bit pricier, but the quality is top-notch and they have functional vent options too.

I’ve looked into APR too, but beware of the weight. Some users say they are lighter than stock but might not be as durable.

There’s also the Varis hood. It’s a bit of a sleeper brand, but their designs are beautiful. Anyone have first-hand experience with them?

I’ve been thinking about the weight savings with a carbon hood! Just not sure if the price is worth it. Can anyone share ballpark pricing for these?

Typically, you’re looking at $800 to $1500, depending on the brand and features. Seibon usually runs around that, while APR can be higher.

Thanks for that info! Definitely a consideration. What about installation? Anyone done it themselves?

I went the DIY route! It was tricky at times, but saved a lot on labor. Just ensure you follow all steps for proper fitting.

I’d be nervous about installing a carbon hood myself. What if I mess it up? Is it really that DIY-friendly?

I felt the same way! But it’s pretty straightforward. Just have a friend help you out, and you should be okay!

Sounds like a project! Just watch out for any fitment issues with aftermarket hoods; they can be a pain if not perfect.
