Thoughts on Toyo Open Country AT3 for F-150?

Looking for Feedback on Toyo Open Country AT3 Tires for F-150

I’m in the market for new tires for my Ford F-150 and have been eyeing the Toyo Open Country AT3s. I’d love to get some feedback from those who have either installed these tires or have experience with them. I’m especially interested in:

  • Performance on Wet and Dry Roads: How do they handle in different weather conditions? Any noticeable differences compared to other tires like the BFG KO2 or Falken Wildpeak?
  • Road Noise: Are they relatively quiet on highways, or do they produce significant noise at higher speeds?
  • Wear Characteristics: How well do they hold up over time? Any issues with tread wear?
  • Off-Road Capability: If you’ve taken these tires off-road, how do they perform on rugged terrain?

I’d also appreciate any visuals from those who have installed them. It would be great to see how they look on the F-150!

Thanks for sharing your experiences and insights! Looking forward to hearing from all of you!

I’ve had the Toyo Open Country AT3 on my F-150 for about six months now. They perform excellently in the mud; I never got stuck even on some tricky trails. Highly recommend them for off-roading!

That’s great to hear! How do they handle in the snow? I’m considering them for winter driving as well.

I live in an area with heavy snowfall, and the AT3s have been fantastic. They provide solid grip and control, which is crucial on icy roads. You won’t regret getting them for winter.

Sounds promising, but how do they compare on sandy beaches? I’ve had some trouble with other tires in the past.

I’ve taken my F-150 with AT3s to the beach, and they perform surprisingly well! I had no issues gliding over the sand; just make sure to lower the tire pressure a bit.

I found them just okay on rocky surfaces. They hold up well, but I felt the need for better sidewall protection on sharp rocks. Just a heads-up for the rocky terrains.

That’s a good point! Did you experience any punctures or major issues while driving on those rocks?

No major punctures, but I did worry a lot! I’d recommend keeping an eye on the tread wear if you drive on rocks frequently. They manage okay, just not perfect.

I’ve noticed the handling is fantastic on both highways and off-road conditions. They really balance well, making them versatile for F-150 owners like us.

That’s what I’m looking for—a nice combination of on-road comfort and off-road capability. How’s the tread life been for you all?

I have about 20,000 miles on mine, and they still look good! I’d say they wear evenly, which is a huge plus for longevity.

Even wear is great! Just curious, has anyone had issues with noise levels? I’ve heard mixed reviews.

I’ve been using the Toyo Open Country AT3 on my F-150 for about 30,000 miles now. So far, I’m impressed with their durability and performance off-road. Minimal wear, and I drive fairly aggressively!

That’s awesome to hear! I just got mine installed last month. I’m eager to see how they hold up! Any particular terrain where you noticed great performance?

I’ve had my AT3s for over 40,000 miles. They’ve been fantastic on highways and dirt roads, but I’ve noticed some uneven wear. I think it’s due to misalignment on my end.

Interesting observation! I’ve been worried about tire alignment too. Did you get it checked recently?

My AT3s lasted about 35,000 miles before needing a replacement. The wear was pretty even; mostly freeway driving. I expected more mileage, but I tend to drive hard on road.

That makes sense! I also do a lot of highway driving. Now I’m curious if I should be more gentle on the pedal…

I’ve heard some say the AT3s are too soft for heavy loads. My buddy runs them on his F-150 and they have some wear after 20,000 miles. What do you all think?
