What’s the Lug Nut Size for a 2010 Ford F150?

I’ve been doing some maintenance on my 2010 Ford F150 and want to make sure I have the right lug nut size for my wheels. I’ve read through various forums and sources, but there seems to be some inconsistency regarding the specifications. Here’s what I’m trying to piece together:

Lug Nut Specifications

  1. Size: From what I understand, the lug nut size is usually referenced in either millimeters or inches. Can anyone confirm the exact size for the 2010 F150?
  2. Thread Pitch: I’ve seen both the 1/2-20 and the M12x1.75 mentioned. Which one is correct?
  3. Socket Size: I’ve also come across different socket sizes being recommended (like 19mm or 3/4 inch). What do you all typically use when working with your Ford F150?

Additional Questions

  • Durability: Are there specific brands or types of lug nuts you all recommend for durability? I want to avoid getting those that might strip or corrode quickly.
  • Where to Buy: If anyone has links to where I can buy a quality set, I would appreciate it! It seems like some options out there are just bad quality, so recommendations would help.

Any feedback or advice from fellow F150 owners would be greatly appreciated! I’m looking to sort this out soon, especially if I need to order some new ones or check my current ones. Thanks for your help!

The lug nut size for a 2010 Ford F150 is typically 1/2 inch with a 20 thread pitch. It’s best to check your owner’s manual too!

That’s right! I’ve had great luck with OEM parts, but aftermarket ones can be a cost-effective alternative if you’re careful.

Are there specific brands you guys would recommend for aftermarket lug nuts? I’m worried about quality.

I’m a fan of Dorman for aftermarket! Their stuff has always held up for me.

Don’t forget to torque them to the right spec! For the F150, it’s usually around 140 ft-lbs. A torque wrench is a must.

I like using OEM, but I get the appeal of saving money with aftermarket options. Just ensure they meet the specs!

Great reminder! Over-tightening can actually damage the wheel or lug nut.

I’ve heard mixed reviews about aftermarket lug nuts. Some are good, but others rust out quickly. Anyone else have experience?

I’ve had some rusting issues too. It’s hit or miss with quality control in aftermarket parts!

I always go for OEM because I feel it’s safer in the long run, especially for something important like wheel lug nuts.

Is there much of a price difference between OEM and aftermarket? If they’re close, I’d just go with OEM.

In my experience, OEM is usually 20-30% more expensive but worth it for peace of mind.

I just installed a new set of aftermarket lug nuts and they seem fine so far! Time will tell, I guess.

Fingers crossed they hold up for you! Keep an eye on them.

Lol, how do lug nuts even have a ‘personality’? Still, I agree that the quality varies a lot.

They might not, but I’d rather trust my life to a personality that won’t rust! :joy:

Hey everyone! The lug nut size for a 2010 Ford F150 is typically 13/16 inches. A socket that fits this size will do the trick! Also, don’t forget a good torque wrench for reinstalling them properly.

Awesome, thanks for the info! If you’re planning to work on it yourself, make sure to have a breaker bar for stubborn nuts. It really helps!

Definitely agree with Tyler. A breaker bar can save you a ton of frustration. Also, make sure your torque wrench is calibrated for proper tightening; about 150 ft-lbs is standard for those lug nuts.
