What’s the GSXR 750 1/4 Mile Time?

I’m looking to gather some insights on the quarter-mile performance of the Suzuki GSX-R 750. I’ve been hearing varying reports on its capabilities, and I’d love to get a better understanding of its actual quarter-mile times in real-world scenarios.

My Interests

  • I’m particularly interested in both stock and modified times.
  • If you’ve done any drag racing with the GSX-R 750, what times have you achieved?
  • How does it compare to other models like the GSX-R 1000 or competing bikes in the same category?
  • Any tips on modifications or setups that helped improve your quarter-mile runs?

A Few Details

I’m aware that factors like rider skill, weather conditions, and track surface can heavily impact performance, so any context you can provide would be incredibly helpful. Also, if you have any links to runs you’ve recorded or race videos, I’d love to check those out!

Thanks in advance for your contributions! Looking forward to learning from your experiences!

That’s awesome! How does it compare to the R6 or ZX-6R? I’ve heard they are pretty close.

The GSXR 750 has some great quarter-mile times, typically around 10.5 seconds depending on the model and rider. The 2021 version is particularly impressive!

In stock form, the GSXR 750 usually just edges out the R6, with better acceleration. But with a few mods, I’ve hit a 10.2 seconds in my 2016 model!

Wow, that’s impressive! What modifications did you make to achieve those times?

I’ve done a full exhaust system and re-mapped the ECU, which made a big difference. Plus, lighter wheels really help with acceleration.

I need to look into that! Have you noticed an improvement in top speed as well?

Definitely! My top speed increased by about 5 mph after the mods, which is substantial on the track.

That’s really helpful! I was thinking about getting a GSXR 750 or a CBR600RR. Anyone know how they compare in the quarter-mile?

The GSXR usually has the edge, but the CBR is a great bike as well! I’d say it comes down to rider preference and style.

True, but I’ve seen some riders on a CBR absolutely smoke the competition. It’s so variable!

Good point! That’s what makes racing so fun. Each bike has its strengths, but I think the GSXR’s handling gives it an advantage in corners, too.

I’ve always felt the GSXR feels more planted at higher speeds. I guess it all depends on the rider’s skill level.

Haha, true! A skilled rider can make any bike look good! Just don’t be the guy who has all the mods but can’t ride. That’s the real tragedy!

The GSXR 750 typically runs the quarter-mile in the mid to low 10 seconds. However, it’s all about how you launch and shift. Make sure you’re optimizing your throttle response!

LOL, I’ve seen that too! It’s really about the balance. The thrill of the ride is what matters most!

Great insight! I’ve found that launching at around 6000 RPM helps to maintain traction without burning the tire too much.

Exactly! Also, don’t forget to practice your body positioning. Leaning forward can help transfer weight for better launches.

Weight distribution is key! Make sure to shift your weight toward the front during takeoff to enhance grip. Has anyone tried adjusting the rear suspension settings?

Shifting smoothly is critical. Try to shift above 10,500 RPM for the best gains. A quick-shifter can make a huge difference here.
