Thoughts on the Sportster Fat Bob Tank? Need Feedback!

I’ve installed it on my bike and noticed it handles a bit differently, especially around sharp corners. But the fuel capacity is a definite plus!

I’ve been considering this upgrade myself! Are there particular brands or installations that people recommend to avoid complications?

When I did mine, I used a package from a local shop that specializes in Sportster mods. They did a great job!

From what I gathered online, the change in center of gravity might be something to watch. Handling is crucial for safety!

Haha, just make sure you don’t fill it up too much! You don’t want your bike to feel like a heavy whale when you’re trying to maneuver it.

Lol, exactly! It would be a whale of a ride if you overfuel. Balance is key!

Overall, it seems like the Fat Bob tank is a decent option for a lot of riders. It just depends on what you prioritize — style, fuel range, or handling.

Well said! I think it’s great for long rides, but I’d definitely test it out before committing!

I just installed the Sportster Fat Bob tank last week, and it was pretty straightforward. Make sure to have some basic hand tools on hand. The biggest tip I have is to take your time with the fuel lines. It’s easy to mess those up if you’re not careful!

Great advice, Anthony! I found that having a buddy help me was invaluable too. Two pairs of hands make it easier to align everything correctly.

Don’t forget to check for leaks after installation. I had a small leak at first, which was just a loose fitting. Tightening it solved the problem easily.

Totally! I was really nervous checking for leaks after my install too. It’s always the small things that throw you off. Just turn the petcock off while you’re checking!

Maintenance-wise, just keep an eye on the fittings and the tank surface. I recommend wiping it down with a microfiber cloth regularly to avoid build-up. It’s a good habit to get into! Plus, it keeps your bike looking sharp.

That’s not just good for maintenance; it’s also a great way to bond with your bike! I like to take my time with it. It’s almost therapeutic.

What gauges or tools do you recommend for checking fuel pressure? I want to make sure everything’s running smoothly after my install.

I personally use a simple fuel pressure gauge kit—it does the job! Just make sure to read the manual for your specific model to get accurate readings.

I’ve heard about paint chipping issues with the Fat Bob tank. Anyone experienced that? What can I do to prevent it?

I had that problem! I added a protective film after my install, and it helps a lot. Just ensure the tank is clean before applying it.

Does anyone have any funny stories about their installation? I ended up dropping a wrench into the tank. Fortunately, I caught it in time!

Hilarious! I almost dropped a bolt too. After that, I learned to use a magnet tool to hold everything in place!
