Need Help Finding a Spare Tyre for My BMW X5!

I’ve recently been looking into getting a spare tyre for my BMW X5, and I’m hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

Where to Buy

First off, does anyone know reliable places where I can buy a replacement spare tyre? I’ve seen some options online, but I’m not sure which ones are trustworthy or if I should stick to dealership parts.

Specifications

Also, I’m a bit confused about the specifications for the spare tyre that fits my X5. Should I just go for a full-size spare, or is a compact (donut) spare okay?

Compatibility

I’ve read that different model years might have different spare tyre requirements. If you’ve replaced the spare on your X5, could you share which year your model is and what spare tyre you ended up using? That would really help me narrow it down!

Installation and Maintenance

Lastly, if anyone has tips on how to install the spare or any maintenance tips, I would appreciate that too. I’m not super handy, but I’d like to learn a bit more about what to do in case of a flat.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi there! For a BMW X5, you’ll want a full-size spare that matches your current tires. Check the specs in the owner’s manual for the correct size!

I’d recommend looking into brands like Bridgestone or Michelin. They’re reliable and perform well in various conditions!

Has anyone had issues with run-flat tires on their X5? I feel like they sometimes compromise comfort.

Totally agree! I found the ride gets bumpy with run-flats. A regular spare would be more comfortable!

When considering spare tires, remember to think about the weather conditions in your area. All-season tires could be a good fit!

Good point! I live in a snowy area, so I always opt for winter tires for better traction. Just something to keep in mind!

I’ve used the Goodyear Assurance line for my X5, and they’ve held up great! Highly recommended for both performance and durability.

That’s awesome to hear! I’ve been considering switching brands.

What sizes do you all recommend? My X5 is a 2016 model, and I want something that fits well.

For a 2016 X5, the usual size is 255/50R19, but double-check your tire placard just to be safe!

Is it better to go with an OEM spare or aftermarket? I’d like to save money but don’t want to skimp on quality.

I’d say OEM is usually a safer bet, but there are quality aftermarket options if you choose wisely!

Just to add, the performance of the spare should align with your main tires for optimal handling. It really matters!

Great advice! Sometimes people overlook that—consistency is key.

I keep my spare tire in better condition than my regular ones—anyone else do this?

I sometimes forget about my spare! Juggling maintenance for all four can be a challenge. Maybe I should set reminders. :joy:

Seriously! But really, it’s worth checking periodically. A good spare can save you in a pinch!

Hey! You should regularly check the air pressure of your spare tyre. Ideally, it should match the recommended PSI in your BMW X5 manual. It’s easy to overlook, but it ensures safety when you need it most!

Absolutely! And don’t forget to check the tread depth too! A minimum of 1/16 inch is generally needed. A spare with bad treads won’t help much in an emergency!
