I’ve recently gotten my hands on a classic 1967 Mustang Fastback and I’m diving into a restoration project that I’ve been dreaming about for years. The body has seen better days, and I’m seeking advice from anyone who’s experienced this kind of restoration.
What I Need Help With:
- Body Shell Availability: Where can I find a good replacement body shell? I’ve heard a mix of opinions on various suppliers, so if you’ve had a positive experience, please share!
- Modification Tips: For those who have modified their mustangs, what are the common tweaks you recommend? Are there specific areas of the body that usually lend well to mods without compromising the classic look?
- Restoration Techniques: Any specific restoration techniques that worked well for you? I want to keep as much of the original body as possible, but I know modern techniques can help improve durability and aesthetics.
- Build Threads: If you have links to build threads or documented restorations that I should check out, please send them my way! I find looking at others’ projects really helps me gather ideas and techniques.
My Current Status:
I’ve stripped down the car to assess the damage, and while it’s not as bad as I thought, there are definitely a few areas that need professional attention, especially the rear quarter panels and some rust spots under the doors.
Looking forward to your advice, experiences, and any resources you can share. I’m excited to get this beauty back on the road and appreciate any guidance you can provide!
