Looking for 07-13 Silverado 6.5 Bed Sides - Advice Needed!

I’m reaching out to the community because I’m currently in the market for bed sides for my 2007-2013 Chevrolet Silverado with a 6.5-foot bed. I’ve been exploring various options for replacement or aftermarket parts, but I could really use some insights from those who have gone through this process before.

What I’m Looking For:

  • Quality Options: I’m particularly interested in recommendations for durable bed sides that can handle everyday use.
  • Compatibility: Are there specific brands or models that work seamlessly with the Silverado?
  • Installation Tips: If you’ve tackled this kind of project, what are the key installation tips or common pitfalls to avoid?
  • Cost Estimates: It would be great to hear about your experiences regarding pricing too. What should I expect to spend?

Other Considerations:

  • Customization: Are there any options for customizing the look of the bed sides? I’d love to add a personal touch to my truck!
  • Performance Benefits: Have you noticed any performance improvements after replacing the bed sides?

I’m eager to hear your stories, experiences, and recommendations. This community is always full of insightful advice, and I truly appreciate any help you can offer!

Thanks in advance!

Hey there! If you’re looking for bed sides for a 07-13 Silverado, you might want to consider compatibility with GMC Sierra beds as well. They share quite a few parts, but some modifications may be needed depending on your model year.

That’s a great point! I’ve heard that some parts from the 2014 Silverado can fit, too, but you might need to modify the mounting hardware.

Just to add, I’ve swapped out my 2009 Silverado bed with a '12 Sierra, and it fit almost perfectly! Just had to drill some new holes for the mounts. The paint also matched surprisingly well.

Never thought I’d hear about Sierra parts fitting a Silverado! Do you know if any extra modifications were really necessary for the lights or fenders?

That’s awesome! How did the wiring work for the lights? Any challenges there?

Well, the taillight harnesses differ between models. I had to splice some wires, which was a bit of a pain, but not too complicated. My advice: take your time with it!

I’ve seen some guys use parts from the 2011 Chevy Colorado for specific elements, which cuts costs! Didn’t expect that fitment story! Anyone tried that?

I wondered about Colorado parts, too. Must be the smaller truck design that allows certain adaptability… or are truck parts just always interchangeable?

Honestly, it’s a mixed bag. While some parts are interchangeable across models, you definitely have to check compatibility charts to avoid surprises! It’s a bit of a puzzle. :jigsaw:

Hey! For a DIY install of 07-13 Silverado 6.5 bed sides, definitely start with good tools. You’ll need basic hand tools like sockets, wrenches, and some heavy-duty clamps. A torque wrench is crucial for properly securing bolts.

Thanks for that advice! Any tips on the installation process itself? Are there common challenges I should be aware of?

Yes! Make sure to work on a flat surface and take your time measuring before cutting anything. A friend is a lifesaver! Some panels might need adjustments to fit correctly.

Absolutely! More hands make lighter work. But what tools do you suggest for the adjustments?

For adjustments, I recommend a grinder and a good set of hand files. Just be careful not to take off too much at once. It’s a balancing act!

That sounds tricky! Is there a specific order to install the bed sides that makes everything go smoother?

Start with the passenger side, then tackle the driver side. Make sure everything is loosely fitted first, then tighten all bolts evenly to avoid warping. It works wonders!

Good to know! What about potential challenges? Any horror stories?
