I’m really interested in the GMC AT4, especially if it can support a camper shell for those weekend getaways. I’m looking for some advice or experiences from anyone who’s used this truck for camping or off-roading with a camper shell attached.
Here are a few things I’m curious about:
Compatibility: Does the AT4 handle a camper shell well, or is there a better option out there?
Installation Tips: Any significant challenges when installing a camper shell on the GMC AT4?
Weight Capacity: What’s the payload capacity? I want to ensure I don’t compromise safety.
Fuel Efficiency: How does adding a camper shell impact fuel consumption?
Off-Road Performance: If you’ve taken your AT4 off-road with a camper shell, how did it perform? Any specific features or modifications that made the experience better?
Additional Considerations:
Cab Size: I know there are different cab configurations. Which one do you think pairs best with a camper shell?
Best Brands: Are there specific camper shell brands that you would recommend for the GMC AT4?
I’d love to hear about your experiences, any recommendations you might have, or general advice on what to expect! Thanks in advance!
I’m really excited to see this discussion! The GMC AT4 pairs well with a good camper shell. I recommend looking into brands like A.R.E. and Leer; they have solid reputations.
SnugTop’s sleek design is definitely appealing! However, I’ve read some reviews about the installation process being tricky. Did anyone face that issue?
[quote=“bairdapril, post:11, topic:5338”]Some shells have tinted windows for privacy…[quote]That’s a great feature! I’ve seen some shells with sliding windows too, which is perfect for airflow while camping.
For what it’s worth, I think the investment is often worth it for the protection and functionality. Plus, they definitely add some style. Have you all considered colors?
I just installed a camper shell on my GMC AT4 last month. The fit was perfect, but you need to ensure the shell is compatible with the bed length. Measure twice!
