Absolutely, transport is the biggest issue. My carbon fiber scooter has accumulated minor scratches as well, mostly from curbs. They don’t affect functionality but do detract from its appearance.
I sometimes wish my carbon fiber gear had a more protective coating. Has anyone ever experimented with spraying a clear coat on their items? Would that help prevent scratches?
That’s a great idea, faith04! I’ve thought about coating my carbon fiber gadgets, especially after seeing how easily they scratch. It’d be interesting to see if it makes a difference long-term.
My experience has been that while carbon fiber does scratch, often it can be buffed out or filled in. It’s all about the depth of the scratch - some regular car polish works wonders!
I agree with that! My carbon fiber laptop casing has a small scratch that I managed to buff out, too. But it’s crazy how one little scratch can drive you nuts!
I feel your pain, ashleyjones! The scratches on my carbon fiber skateboard annoy me to no end. Every little ding feels like a big deal, even though they don’t affect riding!
I totally get that! Each scratch brings back memories of accidents, even if they don’t affect functionality. Did anyone ever try a DIY scratch repair yet?
Haha, I once tried using nail polish to hide a scratch on my carbon fiber phone case. It worked…sort of! It’s like putting lipstick on a pig! Probably not the best idea, though.
