Anyone tried the Silverwing Roof Top Tent?

I’ve been thinking about getting a Silverwing roof top tent for my camping adventures and wanted to get some feedback from those who have experience with it. Roof top tents seem like a great way to elevate your camping experience, and I’m curious if the Silverwing brand lives up to the hype.

What I’m Looking For

Here are some specific things I’d love to know:

  • Setup Process: How easy is it to set up and take down? I’m hoping it’s not overly complicated, especially after a long day of driving.
  • Comfort: How comfortable is the sleeping area? I’m a side sleeper and want to make sure it’s not too cramped.
  • Weather Resistance: Have you tested it in different weather conditions? I want something that can handle rain and wind without leaking or collapsing.
  • Durability: Does it hold up well over time? I’m not looking for something that will wear down after a few trips.
  • Storage: Is there sufficient storage space for gear? I typically carry a lot when I go camping, and I don’t want to leave things out in the open.

I’ve camped in the snow with mine a few times. It handled light snow without any sagging. Just ensure you brush off any snow accumulation to keep the fabric taut!

I have! I’ve had mine for over three years, and while the initial quality was excellent, the stitching started to fray a bit. Still holds up well, though.

My Silverwing has seen heavy storms, and it stayed dry inside. The fabric doesn’t seem to wear down, even with constant use. Very impressed with the build quality.

What about wind? I’ve heard some people mention that they’ve encountered issues with it flapping around too much in strong gusts.

I’ve faced winds of 30 mph, and while it swayed a bit, it remained stable. Just make sure to secure it well!

Glad to hear it holds up in wind. I can’t wait to test mine this winter. Is anyone using a rainfly, or is that unnecessary with the Silverwing?

I use a rainfly for extra protection, but it’s not strictly necessary. The tent itself is pretty waterproof!

The zippers have been strong for me. No sticking or breakage yet, despite regular use. Overall, good craftsmanship!

I’ve had the Silverwing Roof Top Tent for about six months now. The setup is pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it, taking around 5-10 minutes. Make sure to practice a few times at home! The hardest part for me was getting it back in the bag after use.

I totally relate to that! It really is a puzzle, isn’t it? I found that folding it a certain way helps. Anyone have a foolproof method to pack it back up?

Setting up alone can be tricky. I recommend having a buddy to help stretch it out. Also, those wind straps are lifesavers in gusty conditions! Anyone had issues with stability?
