What’s the Best Oil for My Harley?

I’m more of a mix and match person. Sometimes I use synthetic, sometimes conventional based on my ride schedule. What do you guys think about doing that?

I’ve heard mixing oils might not be advised. Some claim it can affect engine performance. Anyone experienced issues from it? Just curious!

Yes, mixing oils isn’t the best idea. Synthetic and conventional oils have different properties that might not blend well. Better to stick to one type for consistency!

Good point! Staying consistent is key. I’m leaning more towards synthetic based on this conversation. Thanks for the advice!

I’m a fan of synthetic! And hey, don’t forget—sometimes your bike deserves a little luxury, too! Just think of it as pampering your ride.

Haha, pampering my ride! I like that. But honestly, does using synthetic really translate to fewer repairs down the line? I’m curious if anyone has solid evidence on that!

In my opinion, the long-term benefits of synthetic oil definitely outweigh the initial cost, especially if you plan to keep your bike for a while. It really helps in preventing engine problems.

Sounds like a smart investment! Engine longevity is what I care about in the end. Time to do some shopping!

I’ve found that using synthetic oil in my Harley has really improved performance. I change it every 5,000 miles, which seems to keep everything running smoothly.

I agree, synthetic is definitely the way to go! My last oil change was after 4,500 miles, and the engine feels like new!

I usually change my oil every 3,000 miles, but I’ve heard from others that 5,000 is fine too. It might depend on your riding style!

That’s a solid plan, rachel49! I think the key is to listen to your bike and adjust according to your riding habits.

Honestly, I just follow the owner’s manual recommendations. It says every 5,000 miles for standard use, but if you’re riding hard, you might want to change it more often.

That’s good advice! Manuals are usually spot-on. I think people often overlook that.

For a bit of fun, I heard someone say if it turns black, it’s time for a change! But seriously, don’t forget about the oil filter too.

Haha, that’s one way to put it! But really, keep an eye on those oil levels regularly.

I’m curious if anyone has tried different oil brands? What’s your experience with that?

I’ve switched between Mobil 1 and Amsoil, and I honestly can’t tell the difference performance-wise.

I’ve always gone with Harley’s branded oil. I feel like it’s best to stick with what the manufacturer recommends.

That makes sense, but I think there are good alternatives if you do your research.
