Transaxle Control System Malfunction - Need Help with P0700 Code!

Seeking Help on Transaxle Control System Malfunction

I recently ran into an issue with my vehicle that has me quite concerned. While driving, I noticed that the check engine light came on. After running a diagnostic scan, it revealed a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) of P0700. From what I understand, this code indicates a malfunction in the transmission control system.

Experience and Symptoms

To give you a bit of context, here’s what I’ve noticed:

  • The vehicle sometimes hesitates when shifting gears.
  • I’ve experienced rough shifts and the transmission feels sluggish at times.
  • Occasionally, the vehicle goes into ‘limp mode,’ which limits speed significantly.

I’m trying to figure out what might be causing this. Here are some common reasons I’ve seen mentioned:

  • Faulty Transmission Control Module (TCM): This could directly impact how the transmission operates.
  • Wiring issues: Damaged or shorted wires could lead to communication problems within the transmission system.
  • Sensor problems: Sometimes, a faulty sensor can give incorrect readings to the TCM, affecting performance.

Seeking Advice

If anyone has dealt with this P0700 code before, I would really appreciate some insight:

  • What steps did you take to diagnose the problem?
  • Are there any specific tests or tools you recommend for troubleshooting?
  • What repairs or replacements did you ultimately need to make?

I want to get this resolved as soon as possible, as it’s affecting my daily commute. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

I’ve been experiencing some unusual noises from my transaxle lately. It’s like a grinding sound when shifting into gear. Could that be related to the P0700 code?

Yes, definitely! Grinding noises often indicate a problem with the transaxle system. Have you noticed any warning lights on your dashboard?

I had a similar issue! My transmission was slipping and I got the P0700 code. It turned out to be an issue with a speed sensor. Has anyone checked those?

Good point! A failing speed sensor can definitely trigger the code. What symptoms did you notice aside from slipping?

Along with the slipping, I also had shifting issues. Sometimes it felt like it wouldn’t shift at all. Pretty frustrating!

I have this strange issue where the car suddenly loses power when accelerating, along with the warning light coming on. Is this also related?

Absolutely! Power loss can certainly be connected to the transaxle control system. It might be worth checking your fluid levels too.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading about the symptoms. Shifting problems seem to be common with these codes, too. It’s good to know I’m not alone in this!

You’re definitely not alone! It seems like these codes can mean so many things. Anyone else tried resetting the code to see if it comes back?

I have! I reset it and the warning light came back after a few days. So frustrating, but it helped me pinpoint the issue.

I think we need to face the reality that sometimes these problems can get pretty expensive to fix. Just hoping mine won’t end up as one of those cases!

Oh, come on! It’s not all doom and gloom! At least it gives us an opportunity to spend time with our vehicles! Who doesn’t love a little car maintenance adventure?

True! But I prefer my car maintenance adventures to be on the simpler side!

I appreciate all the insights here. It’s nice to have a community to discuss these frustrating issues. Every bit of advice helps!

Definitely! Sometimes I just reflect on how complex these systems are and how important it is to keep up with regular maintenance. It can save a lot of headaches!

Anyone considered talking to a mechanic directly? They might have some insights into the specific symptoms and help narrow down the issues.

That’s probably the best advice! They can run diagnostics beyond just the code. It might save us all time and money!

I really hope we can solve this issue without resorting to major repairs! Fingers crossed for everyone involved!

I recommend starting with the basics. Check your transmission fluid levels. Low fluid can trigger the P0700 code. Make sure it’s at the proper level and the fluid is clean.
