Rotella T6 vs Valvoline Premium Blue – Which One's the Best for Diesel Engines?

That’s a good point! A quieter engine is always a nice bonus. Have you experienced any oil consumption issues?

No major oil consumption issues here. But I was curious about Rotella’s cleaning properties since I tend to drive in dusty areas. How does it compare?

In my experience with Rotella T6, it does a great job keeping my engine clean during long intervals between changes. I’d say it’s very effective.

That’s reassuring to hear! Has anyone had issues switching between these two oils?

I’ve switched back and forth a few times with no problems! Just make sure to do a full oil change rather than topping off. Keeps everything fresh.

Good advice! It can be a hassle to switch, but totally worth it for quality oil.

Honestly, I think either one can be great! It just depends on what your engine prefers and driving conditions. Any die-hard fans here or is it all civilized opinions?

I’ve been using Rotella T6 for a year now and have been quite pleased with its performance. The price is a bit higher, but the longer change intervals seem to justify it.

Interesting point! I’ve read great things about Valvoline Premium Blue, particularly its cost-effectiveness and longevity.

Valvoline Premium Blue is usually cheaper than T6, and I’ve had no issues in my diesel. Sometimes, you really get what you pay for, though!

That’s true, but considering the price difference, I’d like to know if anyone has had experiences with faster change intervals affecting engine life?

I switched to Rotella T6 after my mechanic recommended it. It performs well, but can definitely dent your wallet. Is it really worth it though?

[@everettzachary] I think it depends on how hard you run your engine. If you’re putting in serious miles, T6’s longevity may pay off more in the long run.

That’s a good point about longevity. But can anyone clarify how much extra mileage they’re getting with T6 before their oil change?

I usually get about 10,000 miles on T6 before changing it. Valvoline’s interval might be closer to 7,000 for me. So, it balances out a bit!

Interesting! So it really sounds like Rotella might end up being cheaper overall down the line. What about the wear on engines though?

Both oils are good, but Rotella T6 may give you more protection under heavy loads. I’ve always noticed a smoother operation with it.

I love a lively debate about oil! Why don’t you just combine them? T6 and Valvoline the ultimate blend!

In that case, I guess if your engine’s at risk, T6 might indeed be the better option despite the price.

Ultimately, it boils down to personal preference and your specific engine needs. Every penny counts, but so does care for your equipment!
