Need Ideas for F150 Under Seat Storage Slide Out!

Seeking Recommendations for Under Seat Storage in F150

I recently got my hands on a Ford F-150, and I absolutely love it! However, I’m finding that I need a bit more organization for the space under the rear seat.

I’m specifically looking for slide-out storage solutions that can help me keep tools, groceries, and other personal belongings organized and easily accessible.

What Options Are Available?

I’ve seen a few options online, but I’m curious about what everyone else has tried.

  • Aftermarket Products: Are there any brands that stand out for quality and functionality?
  • Custom Builds: Has anyone built their own slide-out storage? If so, what materials did you use, and how difficult was it?
  • DIY Solutions: I’m also interested in DIY ideas if you have tips for creating an effective storage system without breaking the bank.

Points to Consider

  • Quick Access: I’d love to hear about solutions that allow for quick access to items when I’m on the go.
  • Durability: What materials should I look for to ensure it lasts?
  • Installation: Should I consider professional installation, or can I tackle this myself?

Let me know your experiences, insights, or any links to products you’ve found helpful. Looking forward to your suggestions!

I’ve been looking into this too! You can use a drawer slide kit that can support the weight of your gear. Make sure to measure your under-seat space first to get the right fit.

Great idea, Eric! I found a really sturdy slide kit online that even has adjustable widths. It’s perfect for the F150!

Don’t forget to consider materials! Plywood is a good choice for building the frame, and you can carpet it for aesthetic purposes. I’ve done this on my old truck and it looks awesome!

I was also worried about aesthetics. Any tips on how to make it match the truck interior?

Karen, using automotive upholstery fabric can really help! You can also add some LED lighting inside for that cool vibe. Just be careful with the wiring though.

I remember my first attempt at installing a slide out – I nearly lost my patience! Make sure to have someone assist you to hold things in place while you screw them down. It makes a world of difference.

Totally agree, Thomas! I made the mistake of tackling it solo. I had to take everything apart because I couldn’t reach the back screws. Lesson learned!

You might also want to consider using quick-release fasteners for easy removal in case you need to use the entire space under the seat for something else.

That’s a smart suggestion! Are the quick-release fasteners hard to find or install?

Patrick, they’re usually available at hardware stores and easy to install! You just need to drill a couple of holes and they can be released with a pin. Super handy!

And if you mess up, just remember: your truck won’t judge you for your DIY adventures! Keep it fun, folks! :joy:

I recently installed a WeatherTech under seat storage slide out in my F150 and I love it! It’s durable and designed specifically for the truck. Pricing is a bit steep, but the quality makes it worth it.

That’s awesome, robin77! I’ve heard good things about WeatherTech. Have you compared it with other brands? Any suggestions?

I also checked out the Husky Liners model! It’s slightly cheaper than WeatherTech and has great reviews overall. It’s worth considering if you’re looking for budget-friendly options.

Husky Liners sounds interesting! Is it easy to install? I’m not the best with tools.

Installation is a breeze, jennifer70! Most under seat slide outs, including Husky Liners, usually come with clear instructions and only require basic tools.

I went for the UnderCover Flex option and it’s been fantastic. The price was mid-range, but the versatility is great for hauling different items. Have you all checked that one out?

That’s great to hear! How does it handle heavier items? Any issues with stability?

Stability has been solid for me, morrisonlance! I can fit tools and gear without feeling like it’s going to slide around. Definitely recommend checking it out! What’s everyone’s budget range?
