Need Help with My 1995 Ford F150 5.0 Motor Issues

I’ve been having some trouble with my 1995 Ford F150 5.0 motor, and I thought I’d reach out to the community for some advice. Lately, I’ve noticed that the engine has been shaking quite a bit, especially during acceleration. I’m not sure if it’s an issue with the motor mounts or something related to the engine itself, but it’s definitely concerning. Here are a few details about the situation:

Engine Specs and Condition

  • Engine Type: 5.0L V8
  • Mileage: 150,000 miles
  • Recent Repairs: Just replaced spark plugs and wires, but the shaking persists.

Symptoms

  • Vibration: Noticeable when idling and at various speeds.
  • Noise: There’s a slight knocking sound that I can hear, especially under load.
  • Performance: Though it still runs, I feel that it lacks power compared to before.

What I’ve Tried

  • Checked the oil level and condition – looks good.
  • Inspected the air intake system for leaks – everything seems secure.
  • Tried tightening the motor mounts, but they seem fine.

Looking for Insights

I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced similar issues. Could it be a sign of a bigger problem, like a failing fuel injector or something with the transmission? Also, if anyone has suggestions for troubleshooting the vibration or ideas for upgrades—maybe even a potential swap to a 5.8 engine—I’d love to hear them!

Thanks in advance for any help! Let’s get this truck running smoothly again!

I’ve had similar issues with my 1995 F150. Common problems include intake manifold leaks and bad ignition coils. Have you checked those components yet?

True! I also found out that the mass airflow sensor can cause performance issues. Have you looked into that?

Don’t forget about vacuum leaks! They can lead to rough idling and poor engine performance. Check all the hoses!

I had electrical issues too. The wiring harness can wear out and cause intermittent problems. It’s a headache!

Great point! I had an annoying leak in the brake booster line once. That was fun to find.

I’ve been battling coolant leaks from the intake manifold and the water pump. Expensive repairs if not caught early!

My truck was stalling on me. Turned out to be a faulty fuel pump. Have you checked yours lately?

That sounds familiar! Fuel delivery issues can really mess with engine performance.

If you have a check engine light on, it’s worth checking for codes. Sometimes it’s a simple fix if you catch it early.

I agree with the check engine light advice! Ignoring it can lead to bigger problems later. Don’t risk it.

Electrical issues can be the bane of existence! One time my headlights wouldn’t work, turned out to be a bad relay.

Haha, bad relays are the worst! Sometimes it’s just bad connections causing the headaches.

True! Corrosion can sneak up on you too. Clean those battery terminals regularly!

I’m curious, have you tried using a different type of fuel? Sometimes the octane level can affect performance.

A good mechanic can be invaluable. Some issues may require professional diagnostics if you’re unsure.

Don’t overlook oil leaks either! Especially from the valve covers or rear main seal. They can make a mess.

For sure! I had a rear main seal leak once. Talk about a messy fix. My driveway has never been the same! :joy:

I’ve had my fair share of issues with my 5.0, especially with oil changes. Always make sure to use the right filter; a Motorcraft FL-820S works great!

What about the oil? I’ve heard synthetic helps with older engines. Is it worth switching?
