Need Help with Ford Ingot Silver Metallic Touch-Up Paint!

I recently got some scratches on my Ford that’s painted in Ingot Silver Metallic, and I’m looking for some guidance on the best touch-up paints and products to use for repairs. I’ve done some digging and found a few options, but I’d love to hear from others who have experience with matching this specific color.

What to Look For

When selecting a touch-up paint, consider the following:

  • OEM vs. Aftermarket: Is it worth investing in OEM basecoats, or have you found good aftermarket options?
  • Application Method: I’ve seen spray cans, brushes, and pens. What worked best for you?
  • Finish Quality: How well does it blend with the original paint?

Products I’ve Found

  • OEM Ford Ingot Silver Metallic Touch-Up: It’s the recommended option but a bit pricey.
  • spray paint: There’s a popular aftermarket brand that seems to get good reviews online. Has anyone tried it?

I find that the Ford Ingot Silver tends to look different in various lighting. In bright sunlight, it really shines, but in dim light, it can look almost gray.

I just painted my taillight covers with it, and let me tell you, it’s stunning! I’ve never seen anything like it before.

That’s very true! Sometimes I think my Escape looks blue at certain angles. It’s wild how lighting changes everything.

Sometimes I wonder if the touch-up paint is just a money grab. Why doesn’t Ford make their own touch-up for such a popular color? Or do they?

I had a similar thought, but I think the aftermarket options can be just as good. It’s all about finding the right brand.

I love the Ingot Silver color! Paired with my sport package on the 2022 Explorer, it gives such a sporty vibe. It’s definitely a showstopper.

I’ve used Ford Ingot Silver Metallic paint for touch-ups, and I must say, it holds up quite well in various weather conditions. I’ve noticed minimal fading after a year of exposure to the sun.

That’s great to hear! Have you experienced any scratches? I’m curious about how it holds up against minor dings.

The scratches can be an issue, especially if you’re driving a lot in city traffic. I usually apply a ceramic coating on top for extra protection – it really helps maintain the finish.
