Need Help with 1959 Impala Rear End Specs and Parts!

Right? More like, ‘just go ahead and spend all your money!’ It’s like a money pit!

Hey everyone! I’m currently restoring a 1959 Impala and need some solid info on the rear end specifications. Any tips on where to find parts?

You should definitely check out Classic Industries and YearOne. They have a good range of parts specifically for the '59 Impala.

If you’re into DIY, I’ve had great luck using the original factory service manual for reference. It really helps in understanding the rear end assembly.

That’s a great tip! I found mine online for a decent price, and it’s been invaluable.

Don’t forget local auto salvage yards! They can be a goldmine for parts - I got a great rear end assembly for my Bel Air just last month.

Great advice, Teresa! Are there any reputable workshops you guys recommend for more complicated repairs?

I highly recommend Bill’s Classic Cars. They specialize in classic Chevy restorations.

I once tried restoring a rear end myself, and let me tell you, it was an adventure! If you have the time, you might want to consider giving it a shot. Just be prepared for a learning curve!

Haha, yes! Be ready for a lot of ‘adjusting’ and ‘improvising.’ But seriously, what’s the main challenge you’ve faced, LDavis?

For me, it was definitely aligning everything properly. It’s tricky! Perhaps a video guide could help? Anyone have suggestions?
