Looking for Tips on Suzuki DR650 Scrambler Kit Conversion!

Great point! If the exhaust isn’t lined up right, it can cause clearance issues later on.

I found that watching a couple of YouTube install videos helped me a lot! They really break down the process step by step.

YouTube tutorials are gold! Has anyone tried any specific kits they would recommend?

I went with the SW-Motech kit, and it’s been fantastic. Excellent fit and finish, plus durable components.

SW-Motech is solid! But I’ve heard good things about the Lone Rider kit too. Anyone tried that one?

I’ve been advised that the installation can be a pain, especially if you have to remove the rear subframe. Any tips on that?

When removing the rear subframe, keep all your bolts organized; I used a magnetic tray. It makes reinstallation so much easier!

A mag tray is a great idea! Also, it helps to have an extra pair of hands for support, even if it’s just to hold things while you work.

I had a friend who installed a scrambler kit and swore by using blue Loctite on the bolts. Good call?

Definitely! Blue Loctite is a great choice. It prevents bolts from loosening due to vibrations.

I love how everyone is coming together for this topic! If all else fails, I can always take it to a local mechanic, right?

Well, you could, but where’s the fun in that? Besides, tinkering with your bike is half the joy of owning it!

I’ve done the scrambler kit on my DR650 and paired it with a Yoshi exhaust. The difference in sound and performance is amazing! Highly recommend.

That sounds great! Have you done any suspension upgrades as well? I’m curious how that impacts the ride with the scrambler setup.

Suspension upgrades are essential! I swapped out the front springs and added an adjustable rear shock. It made a world of difference in handling off-road.

That sounds awesome! What brand did you go with for the rear shock?

I went with a Race Tech shock—it’s been fantastic for both on and off-road performance. Definitely worth the investment!

Don’t overlook tuning after your modifications. A properly tuned bike can make a huge difference in performance. I used a Power Commander, and it really optimized my exhaust mods.

That’s a great tip, jacksoncharles! I’m considering a tune after installing my kit. Do you think a simple ECU flash would suffice?

A flash might help, but nothing beats a full tune on a dyno. If you can, that’s the route to go for maximum gains.
