Seeking Advice on Rock Sliders for 5th Gen 4Runner
Hey everyone,
I’m in the market for rock sliders for my 5th generation Toyota 4Runner, and I could really use some advice! I’m planning to take my 4Runner off-roading more often, and I know rock sliders are essential for protecting the sides of my vehicle from rocks and obstacles.
What I’m Looking For:
Durability: I want something that can withstand rough terrain and heavy use.
Fitment: They need to fit my 4Runner perfectly, without any modifications.
Weight: Lightweight options would be great since I don’t want to add too much weight to my vehicle.
Aesthetics: I’m also hoping to find something that looks good on my rig!
Price: I’d like to get a good deal, but I’m willing to invest in quality.
Questions:
What brands do you recommend?
Are there any specific models that stand out for durability and performance?
Have you seen issues with particular brands that I should avoid?
Any tips on installation or what to watch out for?
I’d love to hear your experiences and any suggestions you might have. Thanks in advance for your help! It’s great to be part of a community that loves off-roading as much as I do.
I’m also looking for rock sliders for my 5th gen! I’ve heard great things about the C4 Fabrication sliders. They’re super durable and have a nice sleek look.
I’m also looking for rock sliders! I’ve heard that the ARB sliders are excellent options for the 5th Gen 4Runner. I’d love to know what tools I’ll need for the installation.
I installed the ARB sliders myself! You’ll need basic tools like a ratchet set, socket extensions, and a torque wrench. Don’t forget a friend to help hold them in place!
You also might want to grab a level and some clamps. It helps to keep the sliders in line while you bolt them on. It’s a bit tricky, but very rewarding once you see the final result!
For sure! Make sure to check the mounting points on your frame. They can rust or deform and may need some attention. Also, don’t overtighten the bolts - it can cause them to strip.
Thanks for the heads up, scottwatkins! I’m a bit nervous about damaging something in my 4Runner. Is there a way to make things easier? Maybe some prep work beforehand?
