I’m considering upgrading the exhaust system on my 2013 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, and I’m on the hunt for some good aftermarket pipes. I’ve heard a lot of different opinions out there, but I’m curious to know what you all think about the available options. Here are a few specific questions I have:
Questions to Consider:
Performance Gains: Have any of you experienced significant horsepower gains with specific brands? If so, which ones?
Sound Characteristics: I’m looking for a deep, throaty sound that complements the bike’s aesthetics, but not too loud. Any recommendations?
Installation Ease: How challenging are the installations? Are there any good guides or resources you could point me to?
Brand Comparison: I’ve heard about brands like V&H, Rinehart, and Bassani. Which do you think stands out for the 2013 Street Glide?
Heat Management: Any concerns with heat from aftermarket pipes? How do they manage heat compared to OEM?
I’m really just trying to do my homework before I make a purchase, so any feedback or personal experiences would be hugely appreciated! Looking forward to hearing what you guys suggest.
I’ve had great luck with the Vance & Hines Longshots on my 2013 Street Glide. They gave me a noticeable horsepower boost and improved throttle response significantly!
Those pipes are definitely popular! I noticed with the Rinehart 4" pipes, torque improvement was really noticeable, especially in the mid-range. Worth considering!
I went with Bassani Pro Street and couldn’t be happier! They not only sound fantastic but also helped me gain a solid 8-10 hp. Totally changed how my bike feels on the road.
I think it’s interesting how each brand affects performance differently. I tried the SE Street Performance and found the throttle response really crisp without sacrificing torque.
Honestly, the heat management has been fine for me with the Rineharts. But I have heard those Vance & Hines can get pretty hot. It’s a trade-off for power sometimes!
Not really, but I think that can vary a lot based on riding style and speed. Some friends complain the Bassani can drone a bit if you’re cruising at lower RPMs.
I recently installed Vance & Hines true duals on my 2013 Street Glide. The sound is deep and throaty, much better than stock. I love the volume, too! It really helps it stand out on the road.
I prefer stock pipes for the quieter ride. The volume on some aftermarket pipes is way too loud for my taste, especially on long rides. Comfort is key for me!
A loud bike definitely turns heads! I switched to Bassani pipes and love the roaring sound at speed. It’s got a savage rumble that I can’t get enough of! Way better than the stock.
I have the HD Screamin’ Eagle pipes, and they’re solid. The tone is aggressive, not overly loud, but just right for cruising. They really enhance the bike’s performance, too!
I tried the Screamin’ Eagle pipes, but I found them too tame. I’ll take my LOUD pipes any day! What’s the point of riding if you don’t make some noise?
