Looking for the Best Pipes for My 2013 Street Glide – Suggestions?

I’m considering upgrading the exhaust system on my 2013 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, and I’m on the hunt for some good aftermarket pipes. I’ve heard a lot of different opinions out there, but I’m curious to know what you all think about the available options. Here are a few specific questions I have:

Questions to Consider:

  1. Performance Gains: Have any of you experienced significant horsepower gains with specific brands? If so, which ones?
  2. Sound Characteristics: I’m looking for a deep, throaty sound that complements the bike’s aesthetics, but not too loud. Any recommendations?
  3. Installation Ease: How challenging are the installations? Are there any good guides or resources you could point me to?
  4. Brand Comparison: I’ve heard about brands like V&H, Rinehart, and Bassani. Which do you think stands out for the 2013 Street Glide?
  5. Heat Management: Any concerns with heat from aftermarket pipes? How do they manage heat compared to OEM?

I’m really just trying to do my homework before I make a purchase, so any feedback or personal experiences would be hugely appreciated! Looking forward to hearing what you guys suggest.

I’ve had great luck with the Vance & Hines Longshots on my 2013 Street Glide. They gave me a noticeable horsepower boost and improved throttle response significantly!

Those pipes are definitely popular! I noticed with the Rinehart 4" pipes, torque improvement was really noticeable, especially in the mid-range. Worth considering!

I went with Bassani Pro Street and couldn’t be happier! They not only sound fantastic but also helped me gain a solid 8-10 hp. Totally changed how my bike feels on the road.

I think it’s interesting how each brand affects performance differently. I tried the SE Street Performance and found the throttle response really crisp without sacrificing torque.

For sure! What’s been your overall experience with exhaust heat? I’ve read that some pipes run hotter than others.

Honestly, the heat management has been fine for me with the Rineharts. But I have heard those Vance & Hines can get pretty hot. It’s a trade-off for power sometimes!

That’s good to know! Do you notice any drone at cruising speed with your pipes?

Not really, but I think that can vary a lot based on riding style and speed. Some friends complain the Bassani can drone a bit if you’re cruising at lower RPMs.

It’s like an exhaust echo chamber sometimes! I love how the Thunderheader sounds, but it can get annoying on long rides if the RPMs drop too low.

Haha, exactly! Can’t have a bike that sounds like a blender on those long hauls. Are you thinking of trying something else?

I’m thinking of trying another brand, maybe the SuperTrapp. I’ve heard good things about their adjustable baffles and overall performance gains.

I recently installed Vance & Hines true duals on my 2013 Street Glide. The sound is deep and throaty, much better than stock. I love the volume, too! It really helps it stand out on the road.

Nice choice! I’ve heard great things about those. I have Rush pipes, and they make my bike sound like a beast. Totally different tone, but I dig it!

I prefer stock pipes for the quieter ride. The volume on some aftermarket pipes is way too loud for my taste, especially on long rides. Comfort is key for me!

I get that! But there’s something about a robust sound that makes riding exhilarating. Can’t you enjoy a loud pipe sometimes?

A loud bike definitely turns heads! I switched to Bassani pipes and love the roaring sound at speed. It’s got a savage rumble that I can’t get enough of! Way better than the stock.

You’re spot on! But have you ever worried about attracting too much attention? Sometimes less is more.

I have the HD Screamin’ Eagle pipes, and they’re solid. The tone is aggressive, not overly loud, but just right for cruising. They really enhance the bike’s performance, too!

I tried the Screamin’ Eagle pipes, but I found them too tame. I’ll take my LOUD pipes any day! What’s the point of riding if you don’t make some noise?
