Looking for PPG Harley Paint Codes to Match My Ride

Great tips! I was considering something custom. Has anyone tried mixing their own colors with PPG paints? Any recommendations?

Yes! I mixed a deep blue with black to create a unique midnight shade. Just ensure you’re using the right ratios and test it on scrap first!

I love custom colors! I went for a candy apple red finish last summer. Just be careful with the clear coat, it can change the final look significantly.

What about the top coats? I’m worried about durability against weather. Any thoughts?

Using a high-quality urethane clear coat gives excellent weather protection! Make sure to apply it properly for the best results.

Great info, thanks! I’ve seen some wild designs on Harleys. How do you guys feel about using decals versus paint?

Decals can be cool for certain styles, but they don’t match the depth and finish of paint. Plus, paint is way more durable!

Has anyone tried using glow-in-the-dark paint? I think that would be a hit at night events!

I’m hesitant about custom paint jobs. I’ve heard stories of some not turning out as expected. Is it really worth the risk?

Definitely! Customizing your bike makes it unique. Just do thorough research, and consult with a professional painter to mitigate risk.

Speaking of risks, how’s it going to feel riding in the rain with a custom finish? Anyone experienced that?

I’ve been using PPG paint for my Harley upgrades, and I love the finish quality. A few codes I recommend are 91178 for a nice black and 91972 for a vivid Red. Anyone else have favorites?

I’ve used 91178 too, it holds up really well through weather changes. Just a tip, prep work is crucial for the best results.

I’ve tried both PPG and House of Kolor paints. Personally, I think PPG has better durability, but HOK has a wider variety of colors. Does anyone here prefer one over the other?

I’ve only used PPG, but I aim for durability. Have you had any issues with HOK fading in the sun?

For anyone interested, I used PPG 90388 and it’s held up wonderfully. The finish is glossy and vibrant! Highly recommend checking it out!

Just a heads up - prepping the surface is half the battle! I once skipped that step with PPG and regretted it. The paint started chipping off.

Hats off to you guys for sharing! I’m a newbie and looking to paint my first bike. What’s the best PPG clear coat to use after the paint? Any suggestions?

I usually go with PPG 2042 for clear coat. It’s easy to use and gives a high gloss finish. Great for newbies! You’ll love the shine.

Sounds good! Thanks for the tip! Is it true that clear coats need more drying time?
