Looking for Extended Mirrors for My F150 - Any Recommendations?

Seeking Advice on Extended Mirrors for F150

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up a Ford F150, and I’m eager to enhance its towing capabilities. One of the things I’ve heard is essential for safe towing is having a good set of extended mirrors.

Why Extended Mirrors?

Extended mirrors are designed to give you a wider field of view, especially when towing larger loads like boats or trailers. Traditional mirrors just don’t cut it when it comes to visibility.

What I’m Looking For

I’m interested in knowing:

  • Best brands/models: What extended mirrors have you all had the best experiences with?
  • Installation tips: If anyone has done a DIY installation, I’d love to hear any tricks you have.
  • Budget options: Are there affordable options that still perform well? I’d like to avoid breaking the bank if I can!
  • User experiences: Any stories about how these mirrors have improved your towing experience?

Additional Features

Are there specific features I should look out for? I’ve seen some with built-in signals or heated options. Do those make a significant difference?

Feel free to share your thoughts, and if you can link to any products that you recommend, I’d really appreciate it. Looking forward to your advice!

Thanks in advance!

I’m looking for extended mirrors too! My F150 is a 2019 model. What options are there that fit well?

You should check out the CIPA mirrors. They fit the 2019 F150 quite well, and they’re pretty easy to install.

I’ve also heard the K Source mirrors are good for compatibility with newer F150s. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, the K Source mirrors work great! I installed them on my 2020 F150 and they’re solid.

What about the installation process? Any tips to ensure they fit properly?

Make sure to check the wiring harness. Sometimes, the connectors don’t match perfectly, and you might need an adapter.

I’ve always struggled a bit with wiring. Are there any video tutorials that could help?

Absolutely! YouTube has tons of step-by-step guides on installing extended mirrors for the F150.

I DIY-ed my installation over a weekend, and it was satisfying! Just took some patience.

That sounds rewarding! Did you face any challenges during the installation?

The only challenge was aligning the mirrors correctly. I double-checked before tightening everything up!

Why do they call them extended mirrors anyway? I mean, they’re mirrors, not a rubber band!

Haha, right? Maybe they should just be called ‘yo-yo mirrors’! But seriously, they do help with visibility.

Reflecting on this, I’m glad I found this thread! It’s great to have so much helpful info in one place.

I’ve been using extended mirrors on my F150 for towing, and I can’t stress enough how much they enhance visibility! No more blind spots when changing lanes.

Totally agree! I’ve also experienced that added visibility makes a huge difference, especially when towing longer trailers.

I tried the clip-on style for my F150, but they felt shaky and not very reliable. I switched to full replacement mirrors, and it’s much better!

Good point! Full replacements definitely provide a steadier view. What brand did you end up choosing?

I’ve had a great experience with the towing mirrors from an aftermarket brand called Trail Ridge! They extend well and have a built-in LED turn signal.
