Looking for Advice on Leveling Kits for My 2008 F150

I’m in need of some advice regarding leveling kits specifically for my 2008 Ford F150. I’ve been considering adding one to improve the look and stance of my truck, but I’m not sure where to start!

What I’m Looking For

  • Recommendations: I’d love to hear about different brands or models that have worked well for your truck. Which leveling kits have you installed, and how do you like them?
  • Installation Tips: If you’ve installed a leveling kit before, I’d appreciate any advice on the installation process. Are there any particular tools that are necessary? Should I attempt this myself, or is it worth taking it to a shop?
  • Cost Estimates: What’s a reasonable budget for a good leveling kit? I’ve seen a range of prices, and it’s hard to determine what’s a fair cost for quality.
  • Performance: How does a leveling kit affect handling and ride quality? I want to make sure it’s not going to make the ride uncomfortable, especially since I use my truck for daily driving as well as occasional off-roading.

Extra Considerations

I’m particularly interested in how it will affect anything like towing capacity or alignment issues, as I use my truck for work, too. If anyone has tips or insights on how to mitigate potential downsides, that would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance for any information you can share! Looking forward to learning from your experiences!

I’m also looking into leveling kits for my 2008 F150. I’ve heard spacer kits are the most economical. What do you all think?

That’s true! Spacer kits are affordable and easy to install. But they might compromise ride quality compared to strut extensions.

I actually went with a strut extension kit for my F150; it gave me a smoother ride. Though you have to be careful with your alignment!

That’s great to hear! Do you have a specific brand you recommend?

I used the Rough Country strut extension kit; it worked well for me! The ride feels stable even on rough terrains.

Sounds solid! But I heard some people had issues with them. Any issues you faced?

Not at all! Install was easy and I’ve had no complaints. Just be prepared to adjust your shocks afterward.

I’ve been considering a complete suspension kit, but they are pricier. Is it worth the investment for daily driving?

If you’re off-roading a lot, absolutely! For daily driving, a spacer or strut extension might be sufficient.

I personally wouldn’t cheap out on the suspension if you plan to keep the truck long-term. Better components mean better handling!

I see your point! What brands do you consider best for a complete kit?

Fox Racing and Bilstein are always good choices for complete suspension kits. They provide great stability and longevity.

Those sound solid! Anyone have experience with suspension kits that include more than just leveling?

I tried a kit that did both leveling and enhancement; it transformed the truck completely! Made a world of difference on the highway.

Sounds tempting! Can you share what brand you used?

I went with Skyjacker; it gave me awesome performance on and off the road. But installation can be tricky.

Installing these kits can be a pain in the rear, haha! But it’s worth the effort for that sweet ride height!

Haha, true! I guess patience is key. Thanks for all the insights, everyone!

I’ve installed a leveling kit on my 2008 F150! You’ll need basic tools like a socket set, a torque wrench, and maybe some spring compressors if you’re going for a more advanced kit.
