Is Windex Safe for My Car's Washer Fluid?

Honestly, I’ve used Windex in summer, and it was fine! But come winter? There’s no way I’d swap it for my usual fluid. Just feels safer.

Exactly! While it might work well in summer, I’m curious if anyone else has tried it in winter conditions.

I think using Windex is more about convenience, but for long-term use, I’d stick with dedicated washer fluid, especially in various weather conditions.

I tried Windex once, and I was shocked when it streaked in direct sunlight! It turned my clear windshield into a canvas of watermarks. Not cool.

Oof, that sounds frustrating! I’ll definitely consider that before switching to Windex for my car.

I’ve always been curious—does Windex even smell better than washer fluids? Might be a fun perk for short trips, but I’d never compromise on performance.

Right?! A good scent doesn’t replace the need for visibility and safety. Just my two cents!

I’ve read that using Windex in your car’s washer fluid can be risky due to its ammonia content. Instead, try a mix of 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water! It’s effective and safe.

That’s a great point! I’ve also heard that adding a bit of dish soap helps break down grime. Has anyone tried that?

I use a mixture of water, vinegar, and a drop of dish soap! It’s cost-effective and does the trick without the harsh chemicals. Definitely safer than Windex!

Sounds like a winner! Can I ask what ratio you usually use? I’ve never made my own before.

I like to use 1 part vinegar, 1 part water, and just a tiny bit of dish soap. It cleans well and leaves no residue. It’s also super easy to make!

Another option is to mix rubbing alcohol with water—just be careful with your car’s paint. Is anyone else using something different?

I’ve heard of that too! But isn’t it a bit harsh? I wonder what others think about it.

I’d advise against using rubbing alcohol, especially if your paint is older. Stick with vinegar and water—it’s tried and true!

That’s good to know! I want to keep my car in good shape. Love that homemade solutions are discussed here!

Vinegar and soap sound great, but would it work during winter months? Anyone tried an antifreeze addition?

In winter, you might want to try adding a bit of vodka to your water-vinegar mix. It works as an antifreeze and is still safe for your car!

Ha! Now that’s a way to keep your spirits up while driving! Seriously though, that’s a clever idea.

I can’t believe we’re recommending vodka for washer fluid! It’s kind of funny, but actually a smart solution for winter!
