I’ve been using the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady tires, and they performed surprisingly well in the snow. The traction levels are pretty solid, and I’ve noticed a reduction in braking distance on icy roads.
I’ve had mixed experiences with those. The tread seems to wear out faster than other all-season tires. Has anyone tried the Michelin CrossClimate2? I’ve heard great things about its winter performance!
The Michelin CrossClimate2 is excellent! I never felt unsafe driving in snow or on ice. It provides exceptional traction, though they are a bit pricey upfront. Worth it for security on the road, though!
I second the CrossClimate2 as well! I’ve been using them for two winters, and they’re fantastic on snow and slush. But I do wonder if they really hold up in extreme cold for long-term use.
I’ve switched to Bridgestone WeatherPeak tires, but honestly, they’re not as good as expected. While they’re decent in rain, ice has been a challenge; I find myself slipping a bit too often.
The Continental TrueContact is pretty decent, but like others, it struggles on heavy snow. For Minnesota winters, you might want a dedicated winter tire instead. Just saying!
Honestly, I think all-season tires can be a bit overrated for harsh winters. I used to use them but switched to winter tires. The difference in traction is night and day!
A happy medium would definitely be ideal! But if you’re in Minnesota, I’d recommend prioritizing performance over versatility in really harsh winter scenarios.
I can recommend the Michelin CrossClimate2. It’s known for great tread longevity and performs well in snow and rain, making it perfect for Minnesota winters.
