It’s reflective of the marketing; they should be more straightforward in advertising. The distinction could save many from buyer’s remorse. Z71 isn’t a guarantee of 4x4!
Not all Z71s are 4x4s! Some are just trim packages for the 2WD models. I’ve owned both, and the 4x4 definitely outperforms in off-roading situations.
That’s right! I have a 2WD Z71 and it handles everyday driving fine, but for towing, I really wish I had the 4x4 capabilities.
I’ve had my Z71 4x4 for over two years now, and it’s fantastic for off-road adventures. The traction is awesome in mud and snow!
For sure, mario66! My 4x4 Z71 pulls my camper with ease too. But is it just me, or does anyone else find the fuel economy a bit lacking?
Fuel economy is definitely a trade-off with the Z71 4x4. It’s not the best, but for towing and rough terrain, I’ll take it any day!
I appreciate everyone’s input! I’m considering a Z71 but want to make sure it fits my needs. Can anyone speak on how they handle in ice and snow?
Oh, they do great! My Z71 4x4 is a beast in winter conditions. I feel really confident driving in the snow.
While I love my Z71, I sometimes think it’s overhyped. Sure, it’s good, but my friend’s Ford handles better off-road. Just my experience!
And I thought we were on Team Z71! Kidding aside, every truck has its strengths.
Reflecting on my experiences, I think it ultimately comes down to what you plan to do with the truck. Both Z71 4x4s and 2WD variants have their merits!
