Anyone Using Speed Engineering LS Swap Headers?

If you’re working on a Camaro, you might need to modify the driver’s side for better clearance with the steering column. Just a heads up!

For those doing it in a truck, some aftermarket headers may require relocating the brake lines. Be prepared for that challenge!

Using a good quality gasket can also make a big difference. Spend a little extra to avoid exhaust leaks later. Trust me, it’s worth it!

For sure! I find it much easier with someone there to help line things up while you get the bolts started. Less frustration that way!

What’s the best way to torque those header bolts? Any specific patterns or sequence I should follow?

A common pattern is to start from the center and work your way out. Make sure to check the manual for any specs from Speed Engineering though, just in case!

I’ve done quite a few LS swaps using Speed Engineering headers. My two cents: don’t rush it! Take your time, and you’ll thank yourself later for a clean installation without issues.

Absolutely! Rushing can definitely lead to mistakes. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to learn and appreciate the process!

I’m curious if anyone has any horror stories from their installs. Sometimes those make for the best learning experiences!

Oh, I have one! Tried to do it solo, shoved a few knuckles into the engine block while trying to fit the headers. Let’s just say… blood might have been spilled! LOL. Teamwork, folks!

Ouch! That sounds painful! Glad I’m not the only one who’s had a difficult time with installs. Your story is a good reminder for us all!

I’ve just installed Speed Engineering LS swap headers on my truck and started testing. The difference in exhaust flow is noticeable right away! It makes a huge difference for tuning.

That’s great to hear, Richard! I found that getting a dyno test run after installation was crucial for optimizing performance. Any specific changes you noticed?

I totally agree with the importance of a dyno test! It helped me identify that my air-fuel mixture was off after I installed my headers. A few adjustments and the engine runs so much smoother now!

Did you have to make any additional tuning after your initial test? I want to make sure I get it right the first time!

It took a couple of tries for me to dial in the tuning perfectly. Testing various exhaust flow levels really showed me the benefits of fine-tuning my setup!

That sounds like a worthwhile effort! I’m curious, how much power did you gain after your adjustments?

I saw a gain of about 30hp after I made the adjustments and it feels like a different beast on the road now! Worth every minute of the tuning process.

That’s impressive, osuarez! I’m still learning about the exhaust flow dynamics. Is there any recommended software for tuning?

I’ve found that HP Tuners works great! It’s user-friendly and provides excellent real-time data on your exhaust flow and tuning adjustments.
