Anyone Have Experience with F150 Gorilla Lug Nuts?

I’m looking for some advice on Gorilla lug nuts specifically for my Ford F-150. I’ve heard a lot about their durability and how they can enhance the look of the truck, but I’m trying to gather more information before I make a purchase.

Key Points to Consider:

  • Size Compatibility: What size lug nuts should I be looking at for my particular F-150 model?
  • Material: Are there different materials for the Gorilla lug nuts? Which ones hold up best?
  • Performance: Do these lug nuts improve performance in any way, or are they just for aesthetics?
  • Installation: How easy are they to install? Would I need any special tools?
  • Recommendations: If you’ve used them, would you recommend them over other brands available?

I plan on upgrading my wheels soon, and I want to ensure I’m getting the best lug nuts to match. Any insights, tips, or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help!

I’ve installed Gorilla lug nuts on my F150 and found that the key to a good fit is proper torque. Aim for 140 ft-lbs using a torque wrench for best results!

That’s solid advice! I also suggest using a star pattern when tightening to ensure even distribution of pressure.

Don’t forget the correct tools! A deep socket that fits snugly on the lug nuts is essential. Otherwise, you risk stripping them.

Totally agree! I learned this the hard way after using the wrong size and damaging my lug nuts.

Always check the torque after driving for a bit. Sometimes lug nuts can loosen slightly after installation, especially Gorilla nuts.

Also, be careful not to over-torque them! I once stripped a lug nut because I got a bit too enthusiastic with the wrench.

That’s great to keep in mind. How soon after installation should we check them?

After your first drive, check them within 50 miles. It can save you from future issues!

That sounds reasonable! Any special method to check them, or just hand-tighten?

Use a torque wrench to ensure accuracy. Hand-tightening can lead to inconsistent results.

I feel like all these precautions are a bit much. I used Gorilla nuts without any issues—some people may be overthinking it!

Not everyone has had your luck, jacksongabriela! Better to be safe than sorry when it comes to wheel safety.

Can we just all agree that installing these in rainy conditions is a horrible idea? Once, I dropped a nut in a puddle and it took forever to find it.

Haha! That’s classic! Make sure to double-check your work when it’s wet out.

I also think it’s worth reflecting on the experience. Installing lug nuts can be straightforward if you have the right tools and follow best practices.

That’s true, but having experienced helpers can also make a world of difference!

I’ve used Gorilla lug nuts on my 2018 F150 and they fit perfectly. The sizes for the F150 models vary, so make sure to double-check your thread pitch!

That’s a great point! I’ve been considering them for my 2020 model, but wasn’t sure about compatibility. Anyone have the specs for that year?

My 2015 F150 came with 14mm x 1.5 thread pitch, which is compatible with Gorilla lugs. Just installed them last week — super happy!
