Anyone done an 8-inch lift with 37-inch tires on an F150?

Seeking Advice on F150 Modifications

I’ve been considering upgrading my Ford F-150 and want to take the plunge into an 8-inch lift with 37-inch tires. I’ve done some research, but I’m looking for real-world experiences from others in the community. Here are a few questions I have:

Lift Kit Recommendations

  • Which lift kits do you recommend for achieving an 8-inch lift?
  • Are there specific brands that have proven to be more reliable or provide better performance?

Tire Compatibility

  • How do you ensure the 37-inch tires fit properly? Did you face any rubbing issues?
  • What tire brands and models have worked best for you?

Performance & Handling

  • How does the handling of your F-150 change after the lift and tire upgrade?
  • Did you notice any impact on your gas mileage or towing capacity?

Re-gearing Needs

  • Did you need to re-gear your differential after the modifications? If so, what gear ratio did you go with?
  • Any recommendations on where to get the best results?

Visual Examples

  • If you’ve completed similar modifications, I’d love to see some photos of your F-150! It really helps visualize the end result.

I’m excited to hear your thoughts and experiences! Let’s discuss how to make our trucks stand out and perform better on and off the road.

I’ve completed an 8-inch lift on my F150 with 37-inch tires. The first step is gathering all the necessary tools: a floor jack, jack stands, wrench sets, and a torque wrench. Plan for a full day to complete the job.

Did you have any challenges during installation? I’ve read that alignment issues can arise afterward.

Definitely a possibility! I had to redo my alignment after the lift. Make sure to invest in adjustable track bars to avoid steering issues later on.

Thanks for that tip, zachary! I’ve also heard about the importance of replacing shocks. What shocks did you use?

I went with Bilstein 5100s. They work great for offroading while maintaining a smooth street ride. Don’t forget to also check the sway bar links!

What common pitfalls did you face? I want to avoid making mistakes during my installation.

Be sure to read the instructions carefully. I rushed and missed a few steps, leading to extra work afterward. Take breaks as needed!

That sounds rough! Did you have all the parts before you started?

I thought I had everything, but ended up missing a few bolts! Double-check everything before you start. It saves a lot of time.

Does anyone recommend any specific brands for the lift kit? I want quality but don’t want to break the bank.

Rough Country offers some solid kits at an affordable price. Just make sure to read recent reviews to check for any new issues.

I’ve seen mixed reviews, though. Any advice on how to spot a trustworthy review?

I’ve done an 8-inch lift and switched to 37-inch tires on my F150. The off-road capability is incredible! You just glide over obstacles. However, handling on the highway feels a bit wobbly.

Look for comments that describe specific experiences rather than general praise. Also, forums where people share their lifts can be very helpful.

That’s awesome to hear! How’s the fuel efficiency been affected? I imagine it might drop a bit.

Wow, I was hoping the lift and tire upgrade wouldn’t hit the mileage too hard! What about driving in rain or snow? Does the handling change?

I’ve noticed a drop in fuel efficiency too, but it wasn’t drastic. I’m averaging 12-13 mpg now. Totally worth it for the off-road fun, though!

In wet conditions, the truck can feel a bit less stable. I recommend adjusting your driving style. Slower speeds help a lot!

That’s good to know! Did you find it difficult to install your lift kit?
