I’m facing a frustrating issue with my vehicle’s 4L60E transmission. It seems to only allow shifting into first gear and reverse, and I’m at a loss as to what might be causing this.
Symptoms
- When I start the car, it goes into first gear without any issues.
- I can also shift into reverse without problems.
- However, when I try to shift into second gear or higher, nothing happens. The engine just revs without engaging the higher gears.
What I’ve Tried
- Checking the transmission fluid level, and it looks fine.
- Flushed the fluid recently, so I’m hoping that’s not the issue.
- I’ve also scanned for error codes, but nothing came up that suggested an electronic issue.
Potential Causes?
- I’ve read about the possibility of a stuck solenoid or a malfunctioning valve body. Could something like that be the culprit?
- Is there a chance of clutch issues even though I can shift into 1st and reverse?
- Any advice on how to diagnose this further?
