2015 Silverado Touch Screen Going Crazy - Need Help!

I’ve been facing a frustrating issue with my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado’s touch screen lately, and I’m hoping to get some advice or hear about others’ experiences. The screen has started acting really erratic, almost like it has a mind of its own. Sometimes it registers multiple touches when I’m not even near it, making it super difficult to control anything. Here’s a breakdown of what’s been happening:

Symptoms:

  • Random phantom touches, like it’s selecting things by itself
  • Lagging responsiveness during normal use
  • Occasional complete freeze of the touch interface
  • Sometimes restarts itself unexpectedly

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  • Restarted the vehicle to see if it would reset
  • Checked for any software updates available for the system
  • Cleared dirt or debris around the edges of the screen
  • Tried resetting the settings to factory defaults

If anyone has experienced something similar, I’d love to hear how you dealt with it. Are there specific fixes that worked for you? I’ve read about potential issues with wiring or it might be the touch screen hardware itself. If you’ve had any success with repairs or know of a common fix, please share!

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

I’ve been having issues with my touch screen as well! It randomly inputs commands without me touching it. It’s so frustrating!

I can relate! Mine sometimes just goes completely unresponsive in certain areas, especially the navigation buttons.

My 2015 Silverado’s screen flickers, and it’s like it has a mind of its own! I thought I was going crazy until I saw this forum.

That sounds wild! Have you tried resetting it? Sometimes that helps.

Yes! I reset mine, and it seemed to help for a bit, but the issues came back. It’s like a bad case of just ignoring things. Ugh!

Right? My screen sometimes just forgets I’m even touching it. Are these screens even reliable?

I’ve had the same unresponsive areas! The touch sensitivity is driving me nuts, especially in the summer heat. Has anyone figured out if it’s a software issue?

Definitely! I suspect it might be software related since it started after an update for me.

Software issues sound plausible. I’m just glad I’m not alone in this battle! It feels like an outbreak of touch screen madness!

LOL! It could be the title of a horror movie! “The Curse of the Crazy Screen!”

Hah! I’d definitely watch that! But seriously, I’m starting to think I’ll have to take it to the dealer. Anyone have experiences with repairs?

I had mine done under warranty about a year ago. They replaced the entire unit — no issues since, but that was a hefty wait!

Sounds like I might have to consider that route as well. It’s such a nuisance, but I really need the touch screen functioning properly!

Absolutely! Let’s just hope more users share their stories before we all take that plunge into repairs!

I had the same problem with my 2015 Silverado. First, try a soft reset by holding the power button for about 10 seconds. It worked wonders for me!

Great tip! I also updated my firmware after that, which I found on the GM website. That might help too!

I’ve had issues with the touchscreen reacting off and on. Sometimes, a good cleaning around the screen can help. Dirt can cause weird responses!

I agree! I didn’t realize how much dust was there until I wiped it clean. A brush can be useful too!

Before anything drastic, check all your connections. Sometimes, loose cables under the dashboard can be the culprit for erratic touchscreen behavior.
